Sarah Frances Trapped In the Noonday Light

the girls of summer (62)

There was a breeze, but just barely, hardly enough to stir the dust that covered everything. She’d never get this house together. She’d never break free from this Texas heat. She couldn’t help herself though, she still loved the way a piece of cloth billowed out in a breath of air, the elegance of it. The way the sunlight made squares upon the floor from the uncurtained windows. She loved the dapple of green leaves that looked so cool outside in the backyard. The sheet of blue that was the sky. And she knew if she could just shake this sadness the world would whirl back into place. She was so tired of grieving for nothing in particular and everything in general.
